SACRED LEARNING QURAN PROGRAM

Our program fosters a lifelong love of the Holy Quran in all students, regardless of ability or age. We teach the essentials of recitation and then encourage memorizing part or all of our Noble Book. Multiple tracks are available to ensure that students to engage with the Holy Quran in a nurturing and rewarding way. AFTER SCHOOL QURAN READING PROGRAM

This program meets after school throughout the school year and is designed for students of all levels. Beginners are taught how to pronounce each Arabic letter before they advance to fluency in reading. Advanced students focus on memorizing select portions of the Holy Quran.

This program meets throughout the summer and is designed for students of all levels. Beginners are taught how to read the Holy Quran, and advanced students are encouraged to memorize portions of it. Emphasis is placed on the basic rules of proper recitation (Tajweed). In addition, the pillars of our deen, such as purity, prayer and good character, are also emphasized.

Cost: $250 per month (2 months)

QURAN PROGRAM TRACKS

Our programs offer multiple tracks to ensure that students to engage with the Holy Quran in a nurturing and rewarding manner. Each of these are described below.

Students learn the name and pronunciation of the Arabic letters that make up the Holy Quran (AA, levels 1-3)

Students learn to identify and pronounce each letter of the Quran independently and then learn to combine letters into words (LL, levels 1-3)

Students learn to pronounce each letter of the Holy Quran when vowelled and then build on this skill by learning to combine letters into words  (WW, levels 1-3)

Students combine words into sentences to increase fluency in Quranic recitation (SS, levels 1-3)

Students recite the Quran from cover to cover (QS, levels 1-10)

Students memorize Surah al-Fatihah, the 30th Juz, and surahs Kahf, Mulk, and Ya Sin, as well as other selections from the Holy Quran (QE, levels 1-3)

Students become highly fluent with each page of the Quran (QC, levels 1-10)

Students memorize the entire Quran, juz by juz (QM, levels 1-10)

INSTRUCTORS

Hafiz Salim was born and raised in Chicago. After completing high school, he went to Jamia Suffah for hifz under the tutelage of Mawlana Afzal Kharojiya, Mufti Abdul Sattar Patel, and Qari Abdul Manan. After completing hifz, he attended Northeastern University and received his Bachelors in Biology. Hafiz Salim has been teaching Quranic recitation and memorization for over 10 years. He joined Sacred Learning in June 2022.

Mufti Hifzur memorized the entire Quran at Darul Uloom Detroit in 2014. He then began a Alimiyya program at the same institution. After two years, he transferred to Darul Uloom New York where he spent an additional five years completing his studies. Mufti Hifzur recently finished studying Iftaa (issuing Islamic rulings) under Mufti Abrar Mirza at the Islamic Institute of Education in Elgin, IL.

Hafiz Suleman began his Quran journey by learning tajweed at Makki Masjid under Hafiz Javed. He then continued on a part-time basis until he was able to take a gap year to work on his hifz full-time. He completed hifz under Mawlana Luqman in 2017.

Hafiz Omar started learning tajweed under Mufti Ayyub at Makki Masjid in 2013. He then joined the hifz program at Islamic Center of Chicago (ICC) under Mawlana Luqman. Hafiz Omar graduated from hifz in 2015, and has been leading taraweeh at the ICC and has been leading there for past few years. Prior to joining SLC in January 2022, he taught Quran classes in person and online. Hafiz Omar is currently continuing his Islamic studies.

Ustadh Nasir has been involved in education for over ten years, having taught English at College Preparatory School of America (CPSA), Muslim Education Center (MEC) , as well as Chicago Public Schools (CPS) . Nasir has a degree in the Teaching of English from UIC and actively tutors English and SAT/ACT to students in the community. Nasir has also been a student of the Sacred Learning Individual Study Program since its inception. Nasir currently serves as the Operations Manager at Sacred Learning Center.

Alimah Mariam started her educational journey by volunteering at Guidance Educational Academy. She then taught maktab at Makki Masjid, while pursuing her alima course. Having completed this course, she is currently taking tajweed classes and other Islamic courses.

Ustadhah Maria has taught middle school mathematics for a year and was a mathematics interventionist for three years. She completed five years of the Darul Uloom Online Alimah Program and two years of the Maryam Institute Alimah Program. Maria is currently teaching for Salihah Central. Her goal is to stay connected with the Quran as much as possible.

Aunty holds a bachelors in Arabic from Usmania University in Hyderabad and has nearly completed her masters. She has been certified to teach Tajweed since her high school years and was a 3-time Qirat competition winner at her university in India. Aunty has judged many Qirat competitions over the years. She studied in the Aalimah program at Hajirah Foundation in Chicago. She has over 25 years of experience teaching Tajweed at various institutions, including Muslim Education Center (MEC) and Islamic Foundation North (Gurnee).

Dr. Abida is currently in the 4th year of her Alimiyah course online through Zainab Center. She did a basic Tajweed course in her first year and started a two year specialization in Tajwee course under Mufti Abdul Muqtadir through Zainab Center. She worked as an internal medicine hospitalist for more than 10 years, during which time she also had the opportunity and had the honor of teaching internal medicine residents and medical students.

Ustadhah Aisha is a hifz student at Darussalam Seminary online. She is also currently working towards an ijazah (license) in tajweed with Rabata online. Professionally, she has a Masters in Education from Northwestern University and previously taught at the Latin School of Chicago.

Ustadhah Aqsa is a freshman in college majoring in computer science. At the same time, she is also in her second year of an Islamic studies program. Ustadhah Aqsa loves teaching kids about Islam while also helping them brush off any mistakes along the way.
