The Individual Study Program is designed for students who seek to learn the traditional sciences of the din but are unable to spend extensive time abroad doing so.

The program is open to students who have spent time developing spiritually and are ready to undertake the great responsibility of studying branches of Islamic knowledge. In general a student must commit themselves to both spiritual and academic training before they are accepted into the program. Currently, the program is open to brothers only.

At this time, the individual study program is full, and we are not able to take any new students. If you are interested in the program, you may Contact Us, and we will add your name to our list of interested students.

Due to limited resources, and increasing demand, we must be very selective about who is admitted to the program. As a general rule, a pre-condition for admission is that Shaykh Husain must know the applicant personally. Therefore, any interested students should make a concerted effort to meet Shaykh Husain in-person. This can be accomplished by either meeting Shaykh Husain at a program or event in your area, or by visiting Shaykh Husain in Chicago. These interactions will play an important part of the selection process for the coming academic year.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Lessons are held twice weekly over the phone. Each lesson lasts approximately 30 minutes. After the completion of each text an examination is held to determine competency.

BIANNUAL MEETINGS

Students are required to travel to Chicago twice annually. One meeting is for an annual exam and is held over a weekend in the summer. The second is for spiritual development and a face-to-face review of progress. This is held over the last weekend of the Annual Itikaf Program (last 10 days of Ramadan).

FEES AND COURSE MATERIAL PREPARATION REQUIREMENT

There are no fees. Each student is, however, required to assist in the preparation of course materials to be used by Sacred Learning. This requirement is discussed individually with each student based on their skills and level of training.
